Heartland Covered Bridge Association

Keeping the roof over our history since 1989

HCBA runs on dues, small donations, and volunteer hours — in that order of visibility and the reverse order of importance. Membership is open to anyone, anywhere, who thinks a century-old timber bridge is worth keeping dry.

How to Join

We do things the old-fashioned way: print the membership form, fill it out, and mail it with a check payable to “Heartland Covered Bridge Association” to P.O. Box 217, Winterset, Iowa 50273. You may also pick up a form at the office on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Online payment is on our list — the board approved looking into it at the 2025 annual meeting, and our summer intern assures us it can be done.

Volunteer

Not a joiner? We also need bridge photographers, newsletter stuffers (first week of each quarter, coffee provided), Bridge Days help, and people willing to adopt a bridge for an annual condition check. Write to us through the contact page and tell us what you like doing.
